DU Japanese Studies Dept Opens Innovation Lab, Smart Classroom

    • Dhaka University inaugurates ‘Syed Mahmudul Haque ICT & Innovation Lab’ and Smart Classroom at the Japanese Studies Department.
    • Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinichi leads the opening, reaffirming Japan’s support for Bangladesh’s education and research collaboration.
    • Modernization funded by Syed Samiul Haque of Japan Solartech, honoring his father and DU alumnus Syed Mahmudul Haque.

    'Syed Mahmudul Haque ICT and Innovation Lab' and a 'Smart Classroom' have been opened at Dhaka University (DU) Japanese Studies Department here. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi inaugurated the lab and the classroom formally as the chief guest at a function at the auditorium of the department on DU campus today, reports a press release.

    Japanese Studies Department Associate Professor Dr Abdullah Al-Mamun chaired the function with former High Commissioner of Bangladesh in India Liaquat Ali Choudhury, Secretary (Bilateral Relations) of Foreign Affairs Ministry Dr Md Nazrul Islam and Director of Japan Solartech Bangladesh Limited Syed Samiul Haque in attendance as special guests.

    DU Japanese Studies Department Chairman Dr Lopamudra Malek made the welcome speech. Faculty staff, students, and delegates from institutions based in Japan also participated in the programme. Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinichi, who was present on the occasion, stated that the upgraded laboratory and classroom facility with state-of-the-art technology and devices would be crucial in producing capable graduates.

    Referring to the fact that a number of Bangladeshi students have been going to Japan for higher education in recent years in large numbers, he added that Japan never left the side of the people of Bangladesh.

    Saida Shinichi promised that the cooperation of the Japanese government in enhancing education and research at Dhaka University would persist in the future. The Japanese ambassador expressed his hope that the cooperative effort in education and research would make further the friendly relations between the two nations stronger.

    Director of Japan Solartech Bangladesh Limited Syed Samiul Haque modernized the lab and classroom. Samiul is the son of Dhaka University alumnus Syed Mahmudul Haque.
