Green Schools Initiative Builds Sustainability Skills

    • Green school program launched to embed sustainability learning in classrooms
    • Students and teachers gain hands-on skills in environmental management
    • Project links education with green jobs and future-ready skills

First Abu Dhabi Bank Misr has launched the Green Schools for a Sustainable Future initiative to strengthen sustainability education and green skills in Egypt’s public school system. The program is being rolled out in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Ain El Bee'ah Association.

The initiative will begin at Asmaa Secondary School for Girls in Cairo and aims to combine environmental education with practical skill development. Students and teachers will learn about renewable energy, water management, waste segregation, and climate awareness through real-life applications on campus. The project is designed to prepare young learners for emerging green careers while improving the school environment.

As part of the program, the school will receive a solar-powered greywater treatment unit to support irrigation, along with new green spaces and tree plantations. Waste segregation units for organic and solid waste will be installed across the campus, helping students understand responsible resource use. These measures are expected to reduce carbon emissions and lower campus temperatures by four to five degrees Celsius, creating healthier learning conditions.

Around 3,500 students and 150 teachers will take part in awareness sessions and training programs focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility. The initiative also promotes collaboration between schools, civil society, and the private sector, supporting Egypt’s long-term development goals.

By linking education with practical green skills, the program aims to equip students with knowledge that supports employability, environmental stewardship, and inclusive economic growth.
