HKBU Boosts Talent Development Through Industry Partnerships

    Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) hosted its annual Engagement Luncheon at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together more than 600 business leaders, employers, and community partners. The event reinforced the University's mission to prepare future-ready talent and deepen university-industry collaboration.

    Over 120 HKBU students joined conversations with employers to better understand evolving job requirements and industry expectations. The University said these insights will help strengthen curriculum design and ensure graduates develop the skills needed in a fast-changing global economy.

    Dr. Hon Kennedy Wong Ying-ho, Chairman of the Council and the Court, thanked guests for their continued support in creating meaningful learning and career opportunities for students. He emphasized that in an AI-driven world, HKBU’s programs focus on empathy, creativity, and ethical judgment skills that define human-centered leadership. He also highlighted the University’s commitment to supporting national priorities in innovation and sustainable development.

    Alexander Wai, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor, reaffirmed HKBU’s focus on preparing students for a sustainable future. He noted that the University’s transdisciplinary curriculum fully aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and celebrated the recent UGC Teaching Award earned by the Transdisciplinary Innovation Team.

    The event featured six themed zones showcasing HKBU’s strengths in creative arts, entrepreneurship, technology, health, culture, and sustainability. An interactive exhibition highlighted faculty research, student projects, and industry collaborations. Sustainability was integrated throughout the event, with eco-friendly materials making up 80% of the décor.

    HKBU’s rising global rankings, including 69th in the THE Impact Rankings 2025 and 53rd in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, reflect its growing leadership in education, research, and social impact.

    Looking ahead, HKBU plans to expand partnerships with employers and industry groups to drive curriculum innovation, applied research, and talent development.
