IPB University and the National University of Singapore (NUS) made a major leap towards developing international research cooperation with a strategic meeting conducted from July 24 to 25, 2025, at the NUS Innovation 4.0 Building in Singapore. This landmark event saw the continuation of a scholarly collaboration that started in December 2024, culminating in intensive discussion between the CIRCLE Working Group of IPB's School of Business and NUS's Institute of Operations Research and Analytics (IORA).
The gathering had 13 representatives of IPB University from the School of Business, Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta), and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) with emphasis on sustainable agriculture, circular economy, and technology innovation to solve global issues.
Before the meeting, IPB University Rector Prof Arif Satria had bilateral meetings with Prof Chng Wee Joo, Vice President for Research and Technology of NUS, to discuss new research frontiers in biomedicine, biodiversity for herbal medicine, and frontier technologies. He also met Prof Bernard C. Y. Tan, Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, to discuss ways of using artificial intelligence to improve academic delivery.
In his address, Prof Satria highlighted IPB University's willingness to be a strategic partner to NUS, drawing upon its agricultural and forestry strengths to complement NUS's global scholarship leadership. He reaffirmed the vision of developing an innovation ecosystem that propels food security, sustainable development, and technological innovation.

The partnership roadmap presented during the event consists of three main pillars: collaborative research activities with mutual funding mechanisms to generate internationally known publications, human capacity building through cross-exchange programs for doctoral students, researchers, and academics, and the establishment of joint academic programs to increase capacity and global networks. Prof Iskandar Z Siregar, Vice Rector for Global Connectivity, Cooperation, and Alumni, emphasized that this partnership not only builds institutional reputation but also generates tangible impact.
As part of the visit, the IPB delegation visited top NUS research centers, such as the SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Corp Lab and the Lee Kong Chian Computing History Museum. Before that, they also attended the INFORMS International Meeting on July 20 to 23, where they delivered seven research papers that were created jointly with NUS and exhibited their keen involvement in international academic circles.
