JGU Deepens Japan Ties with 8 New MoUs, Now Partnered with 23 Universities

    •   JGU signs 8 new MoUs, taking its Japan partnerships to 23 universities.
    • Collaborations include student exchange, joint research, and faculty engagement.
    • Strengthens India-Japan academic ties through cross-border education diplomacy.

In a significant enhancement of India-Japan academic cooperation, OP Jindal Global University (JGU) signed eight new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent Japanese universities, taking the number of its partnerships in Japan to 23 universities. This achievement came during a high-level delegation tour of JGU to Japan in June 2025 across Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukushima, Yamanashi, and other prominent educational centers.

The recently signed MoUs are with Asia University, Chuo University, Doshisha University, Higashi Nippon International University, Kansai University, Musashi University, Osaka Gakuin University, and Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. These add to a prestigious list of existing collaborations with institutions like the University of Tokyo, Hiroshima University, the United Nations University, and International Christian University.

The collaborations span student mobility programmes, joint research initiatives, faculty exchanges, and collaborative conferences, all designed to foster deep intellectual and cultural connections between India and Japan.

“This is a defining moment for India-Japan academic relations,” said Prof. C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU. “We’re building a framework for educational innovation, global dialogue, and societal impact.”

Prof. Akhil Bhardwaj, Vice Dean & Director of International Relations, further said that the collaborations are established on "trust, mutual respect, and shared academic values."

In celebration of the occasion, Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, hosted a special dinner with academic leaders from leading Japanese universities. He commended JGU's initiative, terming education as "the cornerstone of future India-Japan engagement."

This growth is part of JGU's larger agenda of internationalising Indian higher education and building global collaborations through education, research, and leadership development.
