Microsoft Brings AI Learning to Primary Students

    • Microsoft and Enabling Leadership host 'Hour of AI' for Naval Base Primary School students
    • Focus on AI literacy, responsible use, and hands-on learning for young learners
    • Initiative helps build 21st-century skills, confidence, and future-ready capabilities

Microsoft Singapore, in collaboration with Enabling Leadership, recently hosted an 'Hour of AI' session for 20 students from Naval Base Primary School, giving them a first-hand opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence through interactive, age-appropriate activities.

The Hour of AI initiative, part of Microsoft’s global program, aims to teach 25 million students, educators, and families about AI, turning them from passive users into confident and responsible creators. Students explored AI concepts using Microsoft 365 Copilot, learning how AI works, its practical applications, and the importance of ethical use.

Ravi Sonnad, Founder and CEO of Enabling Leadership, said, “Our programs help children from underserved communities develop not just AI skills, but also empathy, ethical thinking, and leadership. Experiences like Hour of AI prepare young people to engage thoughtfully and responsibly with technology”.

Mike Yeh, Vice President at Microsoft Asia, added, “AI is shaping education, careers, and daily life. Hands-on sessions like Hour of AI spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in the next generation”.

Microsoft volunteers guided students through interactive modules, demonstrating real-world applications and encouraging exploration. For many, it was their first experience understanding AI beyond everyday apps. Mohd Norzaidi Ahmad, a teacher from Naval Base Primary School, noted, “Students gained confidence and curiosity. They weren’t just using technology, they were understanding it”.

Enabling Leadership reaches over 10,000 children in India, Cambodia, Singapore, and Kenya, using music, football, and building-block activities to instill 21st-century skills, values, and leadership qualities.
