Dong Yifei, crowned Miss World China 2026, has dedicated the past eight years to transforming the lives of children in some of China’s most isolated and challenging regions. Through her Beauty With A Purpose initiative, the beauty queen has become a powerful advocate for arts education, bridging the gap between urban privilege and rural disadvantage in the high-altitude areas of western China.
Working in close collaboration with the China Children and Teenagers’ Cultural and Art Foundation under the Super Model Aesthetic Public Welfare Program, Yifei has undertaken an extraordinary journey. She has travelled more than 4,000 kilometres across the rugged terrain of the Hengduan Mountains, one of the world’s most geographically complex regions. Her efforts have resulted in the delivery of nearly 25 tonnes of essential supplies including educational materials, clothing, and daily necessities to under-resourced rural primary schools.
“Every child deserves the chance to dream and express themselves”, Yifei said during one of her recent visits. Her initiative goes far beyond material aid. In the remote classrooms she visits, Dong Yifei personally conducts engaging sessions in runway modelling, painting, arts and crafts, hairdressing, dance, and sports. These interactive classes are designed not only to teach skills but to instil confidence, spark creativity, and help children discover their voices through artistic expression.
The impact of her work is deeply felt in communities where access to quality education, particularly in the arts, has historically been limited. Many of these high-altitude villages face harsh climates, difficult terrain, and scarce resources, making even basic schooling a challenge. Yifei’s presence brings not just supplies but inspiration showing children that beauty, talent, and opportunity are within reach regardless of their circumstances.
Her initiative operates under the banner of the Rural Cultural Run-Tong Project, which seamlessly integrates educational opportunities with broader community outreach. By combining cultural enrichment with practical support, the project creates sustainable, meaningful change. Teachers and local leaders have reported noticeable improvements in students’ self-esteem, participation levels, and overall enthusiasm for learning after her workshops. Parents, too, have expressed gratitude for the hope and exposure their children have gained.
As she prepares to represent China on the global stage, Dong Yifei shows no signs of slowing down her philanthropic momentum. She will compete at the 75th Anniversary edition of the Miss World pageant, to be held in Vietnam from August 9 to September 5. The milestone event will see contestants from around the world gather to celebrate beauty with substance, and Yifei is determined to use this platform to amplify her message about the transformative power of education and creativity.

“Miss World is not just about crowns and runways it is about purpose”, she noted. “I want to show the world what beauty with impact looks like, especially for children who need it most”.
Yifei’s work stands as a shining example of how public figures can leverage their influence for social good. In an era where beauty pageants are increasingly expected to drive positive change, her eight-year commitment sets a high standard. The supplies delivered, kilometres travelled, and young lives touched underscore a journey rooted in empathy and sustained action rather than fleeting publicity.
Her story also highlights the growing recognition of arts education as a vital tool for holistic child development, particularly in underserved areas. By introducing children to modelling, dance, and visual arts, Yifei is helping nurture not only talent but also emotional resilience and cultural pride.
As the countdown to Miss World Vietnam begins, all eyes will be on Dong Yifei not only for her elegance on stage but for the compassion and dedication she brings off it. Her Beauty With A Purpose initiative continues to prove that true beauty lies in lifting others up, one remote village and one inspired child at a time.
