Pusan National University (PNU) is set to become the first university in South Korea to integrate artificial intelligence, powered smart glasses into academic life. These AI Translation Glasses, developed by Expert INC, are part of the university’s 'AX Transformation Project', which explores how AI can enhance education, research, and administration.
The glasses display real-time translated captions directly in the wearer’s field of vision, making communication seamless in multilingual settings such as lectures, seminars, and global conferences. The device, which gained attention at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the U.S., is known as the world’s lightest AI smart glasses. It supports over 20 languages, including Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and French, with an accuracy rate above 98%.
Unlike traditional mobile apps, the glasses use advanced speech recognition and natural language processing to deliver faster, more accurate translations. PNU will begin testing the glasses in classrooms, administrative offices, and graduate programs, expanding their use across the campus based on feedback.

The university also plans to adopt the technology in mental health counseling for international students, helping overcome language barriers and promoting inclusivity. Additionally, in partnership with the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC), PNU will develop ethical and operational standards for AI use on campus.
Choi Jae-won, President of PNU, said, the initiative reflects the university’s vision to build a truly global learning community through AI innovation.
