In an initiative to take forensic science in the UAE forward, the Sharjah Police General Command has introduced the nation's first professional diploma to train and certify forensic fingerprint experts.
Designed in strategic collaboration with the University of Sharjah, the course is an important milestone in advanced law enforcement learning.
The ceremony, conducted by the official launch, was graced by key representatives from both the security and academic communities, such as Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief; Professor Dr. Essam El Din Ajami, University of Sharjah Director; Brigadier Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director of the Sharjah Police Academy; Brigadier Dr. Naji Mohammed Al Hammadi, Forensic Evidence and Laboratories Department Director; and Dr. Asmaa Nassiri, University Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development Director.
This new diploma is a pioneering effort by the Forensic Evidence Department to improve the quality of criminal investigations through the empowerment of national talent with top-world expertise in fingerprint analysis.
The course blends theoretical concepts with hands-on training, incorporating the latest forensic technology advancements and international best practices.
Major General bin Amer stressed the importance of practical academic programs in enhancing police abilities. "This diploma is more than a course it's a bridge between knowledge and action. It equips our officers to operate with more precision and professionalism, affirming the integrity of police work at all levels", he stated.
Reflecting on this, Dr. Essam El Din Ajami commended the partnership as a model of academic-security collaboration. "This partnership brings research and education into line with the actual needs of the security sector. Not only does it enable evidence-based policing, but it also enables the development of a new generation of professionals prepared to address the country's changing challenges", he stated, noting that the university is continuing to ensure that its offerings are aligned with the priorities of leading national industries.
