Thailand Enhances MICE Education with Countrywide University Collaborations

  • SITE Thailand, a national chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), has entered Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with five top universities and academic clusters throughout Thailand to enhance education in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

These collaborations focus on building academic partnership and human talent development so that Thailand's future MICE talent has global-competitive skills. The MoUs foster tight linkages between industry and academia through jointly developed curricula, collaborative research, student activities, and field practice.

The first was with the Chiang Mai University in March 2024. Then MoUs were signed in October with the Nakhon Ratchasima Convention Exhibition Center and the Centre of Excellence for MICE and Business Events Industry (CEMBEI) at Khon Kaen University. In early 2025, two additional agreements were reached—one with the Central MICE Academic Cluster and the Center of MICE and Event Education and Innovation at Silpakorn University in March and a second with the Eastern MICE Academic Cluster and Burapha University in January.

Paula (Punnaporn) Wongjunpen, SITE Thailand President and CEO of Paula & Co DMC Thailand, said:

"People are the heart of MICE. These collaborations are an investment in our future – preparing students to be globally aware, industry-ready professionals."

SITE Thailand highlighted that these collaborations will create educational innovation and international exposure for Thai students and MICE professionals. A series of activities—including guest lectures, hands-on workshops, student programs, and research projects—will be implemented throughout 2025.
