Universitas Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) has marked a historic breakthrough in Indonesian education innovation by becoming the first university in Indonesia to issue blockchain-secured diplomas. The milestone was announced during its 87th Graduation Ceremony, held on April 29–30, 2026, at the Rama Shinta Ballroom of Patra Hotel Semarang, bringing together graduates, academics, and international technology partners to witness the launch of a new era in digital academic credentials.
The initiative integrates blockchain technology in education to ensure that all issued diplomas are permanently secured, tamper-proof, and globally verifiable. Developed through collaboration with the Indonesia Blockchain Center (IBC) affiliated with the Dubai Blockchain Center and implemented with international technology partner Sealbound, the system introduces a robust framework for secure diploma verification that enhances trust in academic qualifications across borders.
A total of 841 graduates received their degrees under this system, including Indonesian national football player Pratama Arhan, who earned his Bachelor of Management while balancing his professional sports career. He expressed gratitude for UDINUS’s academic flexibility and scholarship support, which enabled him to pursue higher education alongside international athletic commitments.

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures from the global blockchain and education sectors, including Hambali Koba Suratman, CEO of the Indonesia Blockchain Center, and Igor Arkhypenko, CIO of the Dubai Blockchain Center. Both leaders emphasized the transformative potential of blockchain in higher education, particularly in strengthening credential transparency and combating academic fraud.
UDINUS Rector Prof. Dr. Pulung Nurtantio Andono highlighted that this advancement positions graduates for greater global mobility by ensuring their qualifications are instantly verifiable worldwide. The university’s adoption of blockchain-based academic certification is being recognized as a major step toward modernizing Indonesia’s education system.
