Vietnam Emerges as Key Hub for British Transnational Education

  • Vietnam is becoming a top destination for cheap British transnational education (TNE) in Southeast Asia, providing high-quality local programmes that produce resilient global graduates. British University Vietnam (BUV) is accredited by the British Council as a model foreign-invested university by providing degrees from top UK universities.

Vietnam has 28 self-accredited TNE universities and eight foreign-owned institutions in the past 20 years. Of these, British University Vietnam (BUV) has a three-month graduate employment rate of 100%, while RMIT Vietnam has more than 12,000 students and 20,000 graduates since 2000.

Vietnam's Leadership in UK Transnational Education

Within that context, the UK is in the lead. As the 2024 British Council report put it, Vietnam is currently the 5th largest UK TNE market in East Asia and 3rd in Southeast Asia. It's also a top priority country of the UK International Education Strategy.

Vietnam's TNE courses adhere to tight partner-country criteria, providing adaptive, student-centred learning with industry-specific skills that enhance employment.

BUV, which is accredited by the British Council as a model foreign-invested university, provides degrees from renowned UK universities like the University of London (with academic guidance from LSE), Bournemouth University, and others.

These programmes provide graduates with qualifications that are highly regarded worldwide. BUV is still the only Vietnamese university to be formally accredited by QAA, after a year-long process involving site visits to its 5-star Ecopark campus.

    Driving Graduate Success

As a pioneering UK TNE model in Vietnam, BUV empowers students with hands-on skills, world exposure, and globally recognized qualifications – to excel in startups, corporates, and academia.

BUV graduates have established prosperous startups in various fields, including business, creative industries, marketing, retail, and technology and hospitality. Numerous alumni have quickly developed their businesses with several branches in Vietnam and have exported their businesses abroad.

At the corporate level, BUV graduates are key leaders of large corporations. Locally, they lead companies such as VinFast, Samsung, Nestlé, etc. Overseas, they lead global corporations like PwC, KPMG, McKinsey, Generali, etc. showing they can lead both in home-country as well as international business.

Scholarship-wise, BUV graduates have won scholarships for prestigious doctoral programs and master's degrees at the world's most celebrated universities, such as the University of Oxford, the University of Colorado Boulder, the University of Sydney, and the University of Strathclyde, etc.

"Here at BUV, we provide excellent British education that fosters aspirations and develops resilience", stated Professor Raymond Gordon, Vice-Chancellor and President of BUV. "Our graduates are the epitome of TNE's life-changing potential, well-prepared to succeed in an ever-evolving global environment".

    A Benchmark for Excellence

BUV success is based on academic quality and global standards. BUV excels as the first university in Vietnam and ASEAN to be accredited by the UK's QAA, and the first university in Vietnam to be awarded a 5-Star Excellence Rating by QS. More than 60% of staff have doctorates, with global experience that adds value to learning.

Students enjoy robust career guidance, international exposure with 400+ industry partners, and almost 50 partner universities including Russell Group universities.

Situated in the environmentally friendly Ecopark, only 25 minutes from downtown Hanoi, BUV's 85 million USD campus is Vietnam's first to be EDGE Advanced certified. It boasts state-of-the-art facilities and technology at the highest global standards.

BUV provides 100% scholarships for excellent undergraduate and postgraduate foreign passport-holding international students. Autumn 2025 applications close on June 30, 2025.

Airport pickup, orientation, and accommodation in Ecopark are provided to international students. Local peers are matched with them through the Global Buddy programme, while clubs, cultural excursions, career guidance, and mental health support enable students to flourish in a global setting.
