Vietnam Launches 2026 Program To Promote Language Globally

    A major initiative celebrating linguistic heritage and global learning was launched in Hanoi, as Vietnam introduced its 2026 programme to honor the Vietnamese language and identify overseas ambassadors. The event, organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, connected more than 150 locations worldwide, reflecting the growing importance of language in education and cultural identity.

    In a video message, Le Thi Thu Hang highlighted how the initiative has evolved into a meaningful platform that helps younger generations of overseas Vietnamese reconnect with their roots. She emphasized that the programme not only promotes Vietnamese language education but also serves as a bridge linking communities across borders while showcasing Vietnam’s culture globally.

    Chairman Nguyen Trung Kien underscored the role of language in preserving national memory and strengthening identity. He stressed that investing in heritage language learning is especially important for young people growing up abroad, as it fosters both cultural pride and community cohesion.

    Looking ahead, Hoang Anh Tuan of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi shared that the 2026 programme will move beyond competition formats to recognize individuals who make lasting contributions to language promotion. Plans include expanding global language learning programs, launching a free teaching channel for learners in 25 countries, and offering training courses for educators. The integration of AI-powered language learning tools and academic research initiatives is also expected to modernize how Vietnamese is taught worldwide.

    The event featured exhibitions, book launches, and student-led presentations, including innovative AI applications designed to support learners. A new partnership between Vietnam Education Publishing House and VTV4 aims to further expand access to educational content for overseas audiences.

    This initiative reflects Vietnam’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international education collaboration while preserving its linguistic heritage, ensuring that the Vietnamese language continues to thrive as a vital cultural and educational link across generations.
