Huawei Joins Forces with Korean Universities to Shape Future ICT Leaders

    • Huawei teams up with Dongguk University, Ewha Womans University, and Hanyang University.
    • The collaboration will offer full financial support to 15 students for a global ICT education program.
    • The initiative aims to foster digital leadership and global ICT expertise among young professionals in Korea.

    Huawei Korea has announced a new collaboration with Dongguk University, Ewha Womens University, and Hanyang University to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) launching a global education program designed to enhance students ICT skills and prepare them for international leadership roles.

    As part of the initiative, Huawei will select five top students from each university to receive full financial support to participate in the program, which will run from this year. These students will undergo an intensive educational curriculum focusing on next generation ICT technologies, including networking and innovation. They will also engage in leadership development, cultural exchange, and hands-on experience with real world ICT challenges.

    The program is part of Huawei's global Seeds for the Future initiative, which has already reached over 19,000 students from 140 countries since its launch in 2008. The goal is to not only provide technical knowledge but to also encourage global collaboration, positioning students to compete in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

    University officials expressed enthusiasm for the program’s potential. Park Hyun chang, dean of the College of Engineering at Dongguk University, stated that "Through this agreement, we will accelerate the cultivation of practical talents with global ICT capabilities. We will do our utmost to nurture creative technical talents who will lead the era of artificial intelligence".

    Similarly, Lee Min soo, dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence at Ewha Womans University, highlighted the importance of students gaining global cooperation experience to succeed on the world stage.

    Huawei has long been committed to strengthening Korea's ICT sector. Balian Wang, CEO of Huawei Korea emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting Korean youth, stating, "We aim to help nurture the talents that will lead the future ICT industry."

    The partnership also aligns with Korea’s efforts to promote digital leadership and prepare its youth for an increasingly interconnected world. This initiative is set to have a long term impact, with the program expected to enhance Korean universities competitiveness and create more opportunities for global collaboration in ICT fields.
