Thailand is making a major leap in AI education for teachers with the success of the nationwide 'AI for Teachers' project, a large-scale initiative led by the Ministry of Education Thailand in collaboration with Microsoft Thailand and key agencies like OBEC, OVEC, IPST, and ETDA. The program is designed to equip educators with practical AI literacy skills, enabling them to integrate artificial intelligence into classrooms in ways that are effective, ethical, and responsible.
Running from October 2025 to March 2026, the initiative has already trained an impressive 160,507 teachers, with more than 135,000 earning official certification. Its reach extends far beyond educators alone, indirectly impacting over 3.3 million students across primary, secondary, and vocational education. This scale highlights how rapidly digital transformation in education Thailand is accelerating.
According to impact data from Microsoft, the results are striking. Nearly all participants reported that AI helps reduce learning gaps, especially for students facing language barriers or learning difficulties. Teachers also gained measurable benefits, with 98% reporting increased confidence in using AI tools and an average workload reduction of four hours per week. This translates into thousands of reclaimed teaching hours annually, allowing educators to focus more on creativity, mentoring, and personalized learning.

Beyond efficiency, the program is reshaping classroom experiences. Schools are increasingly adopting AI in classrooms, with 88.6% already developing or implementing AI policies. Educators also observed higher student engagement, improved creativity, and more responsible use of technology among learners.
Microsoft emphasized that AI skills for educators are becoming essential for the future workforce, positioning teachers as key drivers of national digital readiness. Leaders from both Microsoft and Thailand’s education system highlighted the broader vision of building an 'AI-first' learning ecosystem that supports inclusive, scalable, and future-ready education.
