Amazon Web Services (AWS) is pleased to announce that it will be taking its Skills to Jobs Tech Alliance Program to Thailand to cultivate emerging technology and cloud talent skills in aid of the digital transformation objectives of Thailand. AWS has already trained over 50,000 people in Thailand with cloud skills since 2017.
Future of Jobs report, which World Economic Forum released in 2025, indicates that labour market skill shortages are the main obstacle to business change, identified by 63% of employers who were questioned. Partnering with government agencies and associations such as the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), Department of Skill Development (DSD) and Cyber Innovation Promotion Association of Technology (CIPAT), the Tech Alliance Thailand looks forward to upgrading technology education and linking students to needed tech careers across Thailand.
AWS collaborates with government agencies, educational institutions, and employers to build a comprehensive skills-to-jobs ecosystem. Through the Tech Alliance program, AWS supports Thai educational institutions in modernizing their curricula utilizing industry-validated skill maps for areas such as software engineering, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, helping prepare students for in-demand tech careers.
AWS will collaborate with MHESI by offering industry-validated skills insights to inform their nationwide effort of creating holistic skills pathways. This process will allow Thai education institutions to link their curricula to the needs of industry, keeping programs responsive to the changing demands of the technology industry. These initiatives will be complemented by a partnership with Pearson, which will introduce its worldwide expertise in education content, assessments, qualifications and enterprise learning to Tech Alliance institutions within the region.
Prof Dr Supachai Pathumnakun, Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (MHESI) Deputy Permanent Secretary, said "Our partnership with the AWS Tech Alliance represents a significant milestone in the nation's education system.". AWS's skills maps will augment Thailand's current national frameworks, giving a complete picture of industry-required digital skills for the higher education institutions. This collaboration aims to establish real connections between students and employers through experiential learning, improving graduate employability and making Thailand a center of digital talent.
Top universities such as AI Engineering Institute, Bangkok University, Chulalongkorn University, CMKL University, Khon Kaen University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Mahidol University, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) Business School, Rangsit University and Thammasat University will collaborate with AWS to incorporate industry-relevant cloud computing curriculum and give students technical training with hands-on experience.
"Simply being part of the AWS Academy already provides me with meaningful exposure to cloud computing teaching materials. Now, with the introduction of Tech Alliance Thailand, I am eager to collaborate with AWS and local employers on applied learning experiences and job readiness events", commented Assistant Professor Rutchanee Gullayanon, Ph.D., Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. "I think students are going to be better equipped to join the workforce with these activities".
The Tech Alliance will also consolidate leading Thai businesses that are dedicated to nurturing local tech manpower, such as Ascend Money, AXONS, BBTV New Media Co., Ltd, Bitkub, eCloudValley, Gosoft Thailand Co.Ltd, LINE MAN Wongnai, NTT DATA Thailand, PTT GC, SiS Distribution (Thailand) Public Company Limited, and Wisesight. These employers will contribute insights into the skills maps and the employers' hiring requirements, and connect with students directly through a series of experiential learning activities:
Tech talks: Industry expert sessions dedicated to cloud technology, industry trends, and professional skills. Tech talks enable employers to present their brand, career opportunities, and technical expertise. Job preparation events: Employers interact with beginner tech talent through work immersion, mentoring, technical hiring feedback, and job fairs to develop their professional and technical skills. Technical skilling events: Employers are able to evaluate potential candidates' skills in hands-on workshops, hackathons, and cloud skills competitions.
Students who take part in Tech Alliance activities can enjoy experiential learning activities derived from industry use cases, build in-demand technical skill sets, and connect with potential employers directly.
This effort is added to as AWS continues its investments in the future of Thailand being digital. By launching the newly announced AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region, AWS is making more than US$5 billion of investments and the same investment will grow over US$10 billion into Thailand's GDP and serve as a stimulus to more than 11,000 full-time equivalent jobs a year through local businesses that the AWS Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region benefits.
"The opening of AWS Tech Alliance Thailand reflects our long-term vision to build cloud skills and drive career opportunities for Thai citizens," said Vatsun Thirapatarapong, Country Leader, Thailand. "By bringing government, academia, and industry together, we will establish a sustainable pipeline of technology talent to enable Thailand's expanding digital economy".
