Ernest J. King Middle/High School was pleased to induct fourteen excellent career and technical students at its first National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Induction Ceremony, which took place in the school Commons Area. Leading the ceremony was Luke Danjanic, the inaugural and newly elected NTHS chapter president, who says he was excited and honored to lead the school's first inductees.
This induction reflects the Ernest J. King Middle/High School commitment to academic success and technical proficiency. The ceremony began with the presentation of colors by the Ernest J. King NJROTC Color Guard, to be followed by emotional performances of the United States and Japanese National Anthems by Ms. Cinnamon Warner. Keynote speaker was Captain Michael K. Fontaine, Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, who emphasized the need for career and technical education and urged inductees to employ their abilities to make a difference in their communities and future careers.
Students inducted into NTHS satisfied demanding national standards, which were: active involvement in a Career & Technical Education (CTE) path, a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA overall and specifically in CTE courses, attendance at society meetings on a regular basis (weekly for officers, monthly for regular members), active participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), the receipt of three recommendations by school personnel, and service involving a minimum of 20 hours of community service.
The NTHS honors students who show outstanding mastery of skills, academic success, and commitment in their career and technical education programs. Special congratulations to Miu Best, Moa Best, Jasmine Burns, Luke Danjanic, Sarah Goleman, Amaris Guzman, Joanna Hall, Nehemiah King, Dylan Jones, Kaylee Mapa, Rosabella McGrath, Jesus Puello, and Raeney Reed on this outstanding accomplishment. Being the inaugural class of inductees into the NTHS at Ernest J. King Middle/High School, these students have established an impressive precedent for other students. Their dedication, diligence, and enthusiasm for academics as well as technical education are a model for future students in the school's Career & Technical Education programs.
The chapter of NTHS is looking forward to continuing an atmosphere of greatness and accomplishment, recognizing students and inspiring generations of students to excel in their career and educational paths. This is not merely one person's success, but a new tradition to be cherished for years to come by the whole Ernest J. King family.
