Gia Lai Launches Summer School Focused on AI and Quantum Technologies

    • Vietnam hosts first Summer School on Quantum Computing & AI in Gia Lai with nearly 50 scientists, researchers, and students from 10 countries.
    • Organized by Rencontres du Vietnam & ICISE, with French Embassy support, under the France Vietnam Year of Innovation 2025.
    • Focus on quantum algorithms, AI, simulations & practical training, aiming to build global scientific collaboration and skilled human resources.

A Vietnam summer school of quantum computing (QC) and artificial intelligence (AI) was launched in Gia Lai province, gathering almost 50 scientists, young researchers, doctoral candidates, and students from 10 countries and territories.

The event is hosted by Rencontres du Vietnam (Meeting Vietnam) and International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), with the assistance of the French Embassy. It is part of science and technology events under the France Vietnam Year of Innovation 2025.

Distinguished home and international professors and specialists will provide detailed lectures with practical learning through group projects, exercise, and research presentations. The program will seek to give an exhaustive and current presentation of the latest advancements in AI and quantum computing.

The participants will also be enlightened on quantum algorithms, quantum computing applications in quantum chemistry, and quantum simulations, with practice on specialized platforms and software packages like Qaptiva and OpenVQE. The organizers added that with AI and quantum computing surfacing as vibrant areas that will advance groundbreaking innovations in computing and major sectors like materials science, logistics, medicine, and finance, the school should assist in satisfying the pressing need for quality human resources.

Denis Fourmeau, Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation Attache at the French Embassy in Vietnam, stated that this is the first-ever summer school of this nature to be organized in Vietnam, and it holds high symbolic value and testifies to the extent of scientific cooperation as Vietnam embarks upon a new phase of reform based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Fourmeau welcomed ICISE's excellent endeavors towards scientific advancements in diverse fields, mentioning it as a center of exchange, friendship, openness, and sharing of knowledge, and an indispensable instrument of scientific collaboration between France and Vietnam.

Nguyen Huu Ha, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai provincial Department of Science and Technology, said the summer school serves as a distinctive academic forum where participants gain advanced knowledge from leading experts, engage in practical training and discussions, and together develop new research ideas.

He wished that the programme will have the ability to inspire young scientists, international cooperation, and improve their research power, which will enable them to promote new scientific developments for humanity and society.

On the same day, an international conference of flavour physics took place at ICISE, where nearly 60 scientists, young researchers, and doctoral students from 18 countries and regions gathered. Besides thematic reporting sessions, open panel discussion arrangements are also made to intensively discuss research results and broaden international cooperation directions in the future.

The three-yearly conference is a compulsory platform for bridging theoretical and experimental physicists, promoting international collaboration, broadening the network of research, and making contributions to fundamental physics progress beneficial to worldwide research.
