Khalifa University Launches AI & Cybersecurity Winter School

    • 270 learners trained through a blended format combining in-person sessions and live online learning across the UAE
    • Curriculum centered on job-ready skills, covering AI, cybersecurity, policy, and hands-on simulations aligned with industry needs
    • Backed by strong industry and government partnerships, aimed at building a future-ready, highly skilled digital talent pipeline

    Khalifa University of Science and Technology hosted its first Winter School on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, bringing together 270 participants to build skills critical for the future digital economy. The initiative was supported by Google.org and organized in partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council and CyberE71.

    The program included 100 in-person and 170 online participants from across the UAE. Attendees ranged from high school and university students to PhD scholars, faculty members, cybersecurity professionals, and public- and private-sector employees. All participants received certificates endorsed by Khalifa University and the UAE Cyber Security Council, recognizing their readiness to tackle real-world cyber challenges.

    Designed as a hands-on learning experience, the Winter School combined technical training with policy and industry perspectives. Sessions covered AI and cybersecurity in geopolitics, hardware and human-centric security, cyber threat intelligence, digital forensics, quantum computing, and governance. A capture-the-flag simulation allowed learners to apply their knowledge in realistic scenarios, strengthening job-ready capabilities.

    The opening session featured leaders from Google Cloud, CyberE71, and Virtual Routes, highlighting the value of collaboration between academia, industry, and government. The program also honored H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, for his continued support in advancing national cyber talent.

    University leaders said the initiative reinforces their commitment to developing skilled professionals and supporting the UAE’s ambition to become a global hub for AI and cybersecurity.
