- Launched on 15 October 2025, the initiative has already seen 36,000 participants, with training extending until January 2026, including certifications, workshops, and a nationwide AI-media competition.
To further strengthen Thailand's education in the digital age, Microsoft Thailand has launched the 'AI for Teachers' initiative in cooperation with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), and Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA).
The program provides online training courses designed for all educators regardless of their affiliation, grade level, or subject, enabling them to acquire AI skills that will modernize the way they teach. It is a strategic step to ensure that both teachers and students are always one step ahead in the rapidly changing 21st-century landscape.
Under the Microsoft Elevate strategy, this aims to train about 150,000 primary, secondary, and vocational teachers within a year, building on the success of the prior THAI Academy project. This initiative will include teachers being deeply versed in artificial-intelligence technology, ethical governance, real-world applications, and AI-powered pedagogical tools.
They will design lesson plans and assessments embedded in AI; create professional-growth pathways using AI; and employ the technology for administrative tasks such as creating Performance Agreements (PA). This is aimed at ensuring the raising of the bar for education quality and empowering youth across the country.

Launched for the target population of primary and secondary school teachers on 15 October 2025, the initial phase of training received an overwhelming response from more than 36,000 participants across different levels and types of teaching institutions throughout Thailand. The self-paced video learning course remains open until 20 November 2025 for those who cannot participate in live sessions; completion certificates are provided to participants who registered by 7 November 2025.
Next, from November 2025 to January 2026, training will be extended to another 100,000 vocational teachers and instructors, further expanding the reach of the programme. The program rests on four strategic pillars: collaborative curriculum development, nation-wide teacher training, innovation competition, and the showcasing of best practices. The curriculum is structured into three core modules each taking around six hours. The first is about AI fundamentals and governance, the second about using AI in professional growth processes, and the third focuses on classroom applications of AI and assessment strategies.
After completing each module, teachers receive a certificate; those completing all three receive a project diploma and a two-day 'Clip Media' workshop to craft AI-powered learning materials. They can then enter a nation-wide AI-media creation competition and present for recognition. By empowering educators in this way, Microsoft Thailand and partners continue to make great strides toward embedding AI-literacy and innovation across Thailand's education ecosystem, equipping teachers and students alike with the tools and approaches needed for future-ready learning.
