NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited (NetDragon; Stock Code of Hong Kong: 777), a pioneer in creating internet communities worldwide, declared the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Open University Malaysia (OUM) in Fuzhou, Changle. The partnership represents a major step towards integrating the prowess of both institutions in open learning and digital technology as a way to deepen the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and other new technologies in education. The partnership will be aimed at setting new standards for the development of open and distance learning across the globe.
The signing ceremony was graced by Dr. Simon Leung, Vice Chairman of NetDragon, and Prof. Datin Dr. Santhi Raghavan, Vice President/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learner Experience and Technology) of OUM. The MOU was signed by Mr. Chen Hong, Senior Vice President of NetDragon, and Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal, Vice President/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research) of OUM.
Both the parties, according to the agreement, will cooperate based on the mutual benefit concept to form an innovative and foresighted framework revolving around the use of AI and digital technologies in education. They will work towards the production of AI-based digital content, certification through technology, laboratory innovation, skills upgrade, and curriculum development. They also envision the development of a cross-cutting digital education ecosystem.
The two institutions intend to jointly develop AI-pivot teaching material and incorporate intelligent learning analytics into the LMS of OUM. They will include the design of a psychological well-being dashboard and an AI-infused psychometric profiling platform intended to provide insights into the behaviors and emotions of learners, thus allowing for more personalized learning and enhanced teaching outcomes.

On top of that, the partnership will also investigate blockchain-driven digital certification and micro-certification systems to reinforce academic credentials' security and validity. There are also plans to create a shared 'AI Research and Innovation Laboratory' focused on instructional design, gamification learning, and the ethical use of AI in education. In support of industry needs and lifelong learning objectives, both organizations will collaborate on the creation of micro-credential courses and TVET programs, as well as launching language certification services to further promote the employability of learners.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Chen Hong noted that this collaboration is another major milestone for NetDragon in global cooperation with educational institutions, including UNESCO. He indicated that it will speed up the extensive adoption of AI in varied learning environments and drive solid momentum into the development of future education ecosystems. Prof. Datuk Dr. Mohd Tajudin Md Ninggal was optimistic that the partnership will further enhance OUM's leadership in open and digital learning and drive pioneering learning solutions forward. In similar praise, Prof. Datin Dr. Santhi Raghavan complimented NetDragon's AI Content Factory and gamified learning efforts, highlighting the potential of these efforts to change the digital learning paradigm.
