Singapore to Train 100,000 Workers in AI Skills with New Programme

    • National AI Impact Programme to train 100,000 workers in AI skills.
    • Initial focus on legal and accounting sectors, with plans to expand.
    • Programme supports both workers and enterprises in AI adoption.

Singapore’s new National AI Impact Programme is set to train 100,000 workers, helping them become 'AI bilingual' by improving their skills in AI tools and techniques. Announced during the 2026 Committee of Supply debates, the initiative aims to strengthen the country’s AI capabilities across various sectors. The programme will start with professionals in fields like legal services and accounting, with plans to expand to other industries in the future.

The programme builds on Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 and focuses on training workers to use AI in their specific job roles. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) plan to expand the TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA) programme to include AI bilingual capabilities. Partnerships with professional bodies like the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and the Singapore Academy of Law will help tailor training to the needs of these sectors.

In addition to supporting workers, the programme will assist 10,000 businesses in adopting AI technologies. As part of the enterprise support, businesses will have access to the Digital Leaders Accelerator Bootcamp and other curated AI solutions, supported by grants. This initiative aims to enhance the workforce’s AI fluency while helping companies stay competitive in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
