Thailand has launched a nationwide artificial intelligence education program to prepare students for future technology jobs and close the country’s growing digital skills gap.
The initiative, called 'AI for All Thais', is a joint effort between Google, True Corporation, and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The program introduces the country’s first credit-bearing AI course for university students.
At the center of the initiative is 'AI for Future Workforce', a 45-hour academic course designed to teach practical AI knowledge and workplace-ready digital skills. Universities will count the course toward academic credits, giving students formal recognition for AI training.
The program will first launch across more than 20 leading universities before expanding nationwide. It also includes a Train-the-Trainer model that will help university faculty build the expertise needed to teach AI literacy as part of regular coursework.
Students who complete the course will receive a joint certificate from True and Google, giving them a stronger credential as they enter the job market. Top-performing students will also earn a study visit to Google’s Singapore office, offering direct exposure to global technology innovation.
Thailand currently faces a shortage of nearly 80,000 AI professionals, creating an urgent need for stronger digital education pathways. Officials believe this program will help create a pipeline of AI-ready graduates equipped for jobs in data science, automation, software development, and emerging technology sectors.
