upGrad, Asia's leading integrated skilling and lifelong learning company, has made a major move in its expansion in Southeast Asia with the launch of a new office in Bangkok. This move reflects upGrad's vision to drive Thailand's digital economy through AI-driven and career-relevant learning programs complemented by localized student engagement and support mechanisms. The step has been taken at a critical juncture, with the Thai government, through its Ministry of Labour, setting goals to reskill 1.8 million employees and improve the employability of youth as a countermeasure to accelerating digital disruption in sectors. Having a local footprint in Bangkok will enable upGrad to bring high-quality learning from around the world more within reach for Thai students, businesses, and professionals, highly aligning with the country's workforce development aspirations.
UpGrad, founded in India a decade back, has emerged as one of Asia's largest online higher education and workforce transformation platforms, educating over 10 million learners in 160 countries. UpGrad has established partnerships with over 100 top-ranked universities globally, such as Golden Gate University, Edgewood College, Northeastern University, and Liverpool John Moores University. By working with partners, upGrad creates programs that marry academic intensity with real-world applicability, so learners pick up practical, job-ready skills. The new Bangkok facility will bring this model to Thailand, providing AI, data, education, and business degrees targeted specifically at working professionals, along with mentorship in Thai.
Flexibility is core to upGrad's strategy. Students can attend live and recorded sessions in addition to in-depth digital materials so they can learn without having to leave their professional lives. Apart from individual training, upGrad aims to partner with neighborhood schools and universities to co-design programs that address the needs of the workplace directly, thus bridging the gap between learning and employment. The firm is also investing in learner and local team support, offering individualized advice from application to graduation so that the students are completely taken care of during their studies.

In the next two years, upGrad plans to expand its impact in Thailand by up-skilling thousands of students in AI, business, and emerging technologies and empowering them with the skills needed to capture global career opportunities. Launch offerings will include Doctorate programmes in Business and Education offered by universities, MBA degrees, Technology and Data Science programmes, and shorter certification programmes meant to enhance professional skills in a hurry.
upGrad CEO International, Consumer Business, Myleeta Aga Williams noted Thailand's aggressive attempts to get its workforce future-ready, specifically through AI upskilling and digital upskilling programs. She pointed out that Bangkok, being among Southeast Asia's most rapidly growing economies, is well placed to become a talent hub and region for innovation. Williams described how by integrating world-class education with local applicability, upGrad is committed to enabling Thai professionals not only to cope with change but also to drive the region's digital future. Vu Le, upGrad Country Head for Thailand and Vietnam, further asserted that the firm has been promoting upskilling Thai learners for three years and that the official office itself is a testament to long-term commitment towards the country's future-oriented economy. He explained that upGrad aims to enhance Thailand's well-established learning and employability ecosystem while building a pipeline of AI-capable talent for both business and individuals.
Since its launch in 2015, upGrad has grown to become one of Asia's largest integrated learning, skilling, and workforce development companies. It provides various online and hybrid programs, certifications, and bootcamps for individual students while also enabling top Indian and global universities to provide diplomas, master's degrees, and executive doctorates. All the degrees are conferred directly by the respective universities, and some programs are tailored to corporate customers, complementing staffing and recruitment efforts. With its Bangkok office, upGrad is poised to introduce this complete, future-capable learning environment to Thailand, empowering individual career development as well as larger workforce transformation.
