- Anhui University of Chinese Medicine (AUCM) will open its first overseas branch campus in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, offering interdisciplinary courses in English.
- The initiative, backed by Sabah’s government and the Borneo Pacific Group, aims to boost higher education, research, and cultural exchange in the state.
- The campus will strengthen China-Malaysia educational cooperation, providing local and international students with globally recognized programs in TCM, business, and economics.
Anhui University of Chinese Medicine (AUCM) will establish a first overseas university branch campus in Kota Kinabalu. Its president, Professor Xu Fan, made this announcement after visiting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor in August, this year.
The AUCM delegation consisted of Dean Zhou Yadong, director Lu Rong, director Gui Ming, lecturer Bao Wenting, and lecturer Li Mingzhu This was in response to the backing of this virtuous educational effort by the Chief Minister. This is also in accordance with the Sabah State Government Development Blueprint of Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 in developing human capital in Sabah.
This milestone development is also a significant milestone in AUCM's global strategy and a tremendous breakthrough for Sabah in education and cultural exchange, marking a new era for higher education in the state.
Raymond Chan, the Managing Director of the Borneo Pacific Group, is the local Malaysia collaboration partner for this project. The AUCM leadership also expressed their gratitude to Datuk Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen and Dr Firdausi Suffian, the Chief Executive Officer of Invest Sabah Berhad, for extending full support for the project.

The courses provided in the AUCM campus in Kota Kinabalu will be conducted in English and will be made available to both foreign and domestic students. The courses will be extremely innovative and will cover a variety of interdisciplinary double-degree courses, including traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), TCM and Business Administration, TCM and Economics, and other interdisciplinary courses.
This partnership will bring beneficial research and educational materials to Sabah, providing opportunities for local students to link with internationally acclaimed academic standards. The campus will not only promote Malaysia's position as an ASEAN educational hub but also reinforce Sabah's status as China-Malaysia's educational cooperation hub.
AUCM and the Borneo Pacific Group are confident that this campus will be an effective bridge in deepening the bilateral relationship between China and Malaysia. It is hoped to facilitate talent cultivation, academic exchange, and industry collaboration, leading to a new chapter in cross-sector, multi-level, and internationally facing educational cooperation.
