- BIR partners with TikTok to deliver tax education through short, digital-first content
- Initiative focuses on young taxpayers, freelancers, creators, and online earners
- Program aims to build tax skills, improve awareness, and encourage voluntary compliance
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has announced a new partnership with TikTok to strengthen tax education and improve voluntary tax compliance in the Philippines. The collaboration aims to reach younger and digitally active taxpayers through simple, engaging, and easy-to-understand content.
BIR Commissioner Charlie Mendoza and senior officials recently met with TikTok’s Philippines public policy team, led by Yves Gonzalez, to outline the partnership. Under the plan, TikTok will help the tax agency share key tax information using short videos, creator-led explainers, and platform-friendly formats. Much of this content will roll out during Tax Awareness Month in February and as part of the government’s 2026 National Tax Campaign.
In return, the BIR will conduct on-site and online workshops with TikTok. These sessions will focus on practical tax knowledge, including taxpayer registration, understanding taxable income, filing returns, payment methods, and common compliance mistakes. The initiative is expected to benefit freelancers, content creators, gig workers, and first-time taxpayers who often lack access to clear tax guidance.
Commissioner Mendoza said digital platforms are now essential for public education, especially as more income opportunities move online. He added that the partnership supports the government’s broader push to simplify processes, improve digital services, and strengthen tax collection while offering better support to taxpayers.

TikTok’s Gonzalez said the platform is committed to helping Filipinos stay informed and fulfill their civic responsibilities. He noted that relatable and accessible content can make complex topics like taxes easier to understand and act on.
Both sides have agreed to appoint focal persons, finalize timelines, and launch the official BIR TikTok account in the coming weeks. The partnership marks a step toward building tax literacy, job readiness, and financial responsibility in the digital economy.
