Capcom Singapore has entered into a strategic partnership with Mapua University and Prime Manpower to launch a groundbreaking educational initiative aimed at shaping the future of Southeast Asia’s gaming industry. Announced in December 2025, the program focuses on game development, intellectual property (IP), and digital culture, and is designed to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in the global gaming market. The initiative will be rolled out in the Philippines, where it will feature lectures, hands-on projects, and internships that connect classroom learning with real-world industry practices.
The collaboration brings together Capcom’s extensive expertise in gaming IP, Mapua University’s strong engineering and technology focus, and Prime Manpower’s career services. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between education and the gaming industry, offering a comprehensive learning experience that prepares students for careers in game creation, engineering, and business. Through project-based learning (PBL), students will work on real Capcom game titles and gain valuable insights into the intellectual property strategies and business practices that make these games global successes.
Capcom will contribute to the program by providing lectures, materials, and learning modules based on its globally recognized game IPs. The company’s industry expertise will offer students a unique perspective on the creative processes behind game development, including how intellectual property is developed and managed across games, merchandise, and esports. Capcom’s involvement in the initiative is led by Motoki Okuyama, General Manager of Capcom’s IP Department, who will deliver a special lecture on January 27, 2026, covering topics such as IP in game development and global protection strategies.
Mapúa University, one of the Philippines' top engineering schools, will play a crucial role in designing and managing the curriculum, focusing on integrating cutting-edge technology and industry standards into the educational framework. The university will also enhance the learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to succeed in their studies and future careers. Through this partnership, Mapúa is further cementing its position as a leader in technology-driven education.

Prime Manpower will be instrumental in connecting students with industry opportunities, facilitating internships, and offering career support programs. The organization will work closely with students to ensure that their skills are aligned with the needs of the gaming industry, providing valuable talent development feedback. Through this collaboration, Prime Manpower aims to help students transition seamlessly from education to professional careers in gaming and related fields.
The official signing ceremony for this partnership is set to take place on January 26, 2026, at Mapua University’s Metro Manila event space. The event will bring together representatives from Capcom Singapore, Mapua University, and Prime Manpower, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the region’s gaming education landscape. The following day, Motoki Okuyama will deliver his lecture, providing deeper insights into the intricacies of IP management and the global strategies that have helped make Capcom a leader in the gaming industry.
"Capcom has long delivered smiles and excitement to players around the world through our games. Behind this lies a continuous and sophisticated creative process one that involves generating characters, worlds, game systems, brands, and the intellectual property that underpins them, then refining these elements into valuable assets and integrating them into our business", said Okuyama. He emphasized that the partnership with Mapúa and Prime Manpower represents an exciting opportunity to nurture the next generation of game creators, engineers, and business leaders, enabling them to bring their own creative visions to life while understanding the complexities of global business strategies.
This initiative reflects Capcom’s commitment to sharing its expertise and helping to build a sustainable talent pipeline for the gaming industry in Southeast Asia, providing students with the knowledge and experience to succeed in an increasingly digital and globalized world.
