DBP Launches P510Million INSPIRE Program for Education Access

    •  DBP launches INSPIRE, a 5-year CSR program for inclusive education.
    •  P437.5M allocated to fund tuition, living allowances, and materials for 350 students in year one.
    • P72.5M to upgrade facilities and provide equipment in 150 DepEd schools.

    The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has launched a P510-million corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at improving access to quality education across both basic and tertiary levels.

    DBP President and CEO Michael de Jesus introduced the DBP Integrated Scholastic Program for Inclusive and Responsive Education (DBP INSPIRE), a five-year omnibus program designed to complement government education initiatives through scholarships, infrastructure support, and partnerships.

    According to de Jesus, “The DBP INSPIRE program reinforces the Bank’s commitment to supporting the education sector and aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of placing education at the heart of the national development agenda.”

    The program sets aside P437.5 million for scholarships that will cover tuition, matriculation, living allowances, and study materials. In its first year, at least 350 underprivileged students will benefit, particularly those pursuing engineering, accountancy, education, agriculture, forestry, sciences, maritime, IT, and technical-vocational programs.

    Additionally, P72.5 million has been allocated to support the Department of Educations Adopt-a-School and Brigada Eskwela programs providing classroom upgrades and learning equipment to 150 public schools nationwide.

    DBP has also partnered with nine higher education institutions, including Bulacan State University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Cebu Normal University, University of Cebu, and Mindanao State University Iligan Institute of Technology to implement the initiative.
