- DMU integrates AI into medicine, pharmacy, and nursing programs
- Students gain hands-on experience with VR/AR labs, robotics, and big data
- University focuses on ethical AI use to enhance healthcare skills
Dubai Medical University (DMU) is transforming medical education by embedding artificial intelligence (AI) across its medicine, pharmacy, and nursing programs. The initiative aligns with the UAE’s National Strategy for AI 2031 and aims to train a new generation of skilled healthcare professionals ready for future hospitals.
The university has built a comprehensive digital ecosystem, including AI-driven diagnostic training, clinical decision support systems, and simulation labs. VR and AR technologies, combined with robotics, allow students to practice surgical procedures, manage critical care scenarios, and engage with big data in safe sandbox environments.
DMU recently partnered with the College of Naturopathic Medicine through an MoU to further integrate AI into academic programs. The Faculty of Medicine now offers 'Data Science for Physicians', focusing on tumor detection, AI-assisted diagnostics, and clinical decision-making. The College of Pharmacy emphasizes precision medicine, using AI to match genetic profiles with medications and streamline drug discovery. Nursing students train with remote monitoring systems and assistive robotics for early health interventions.

To ensure responsible AI use, DMU has established an AI Ethics Committee to teach students about algorithmic bias, patient data privacy, and the principle that AI supports, not replaces, physicians. These efforts prepare graduates with advanced skills and job-ready expertise in AI-driven healthcare.
