Dubai University Launches New Nursing Education Programmes

    • MBRU launched new nursing education programmes through the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery to strengthen healthcare capacity building in the UAE.
    • The university introduced a Bachelor of Science in Nursing along with structured postgraduate pathways across four key clinical specialisations.
    • The initiative reinforces MBRU’s vision to align nursing education with global academic and clinical standards while addressing evolving regional healthcare needs.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, the academic and research arm of Dubai Health, has deepened its commitment toward health capacity building through the introduction of new nursing education programs offered by the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The move further epitomizes MBRU's broader intent to create a formidable order of medical education in the UAE while ensuring that training for nurses matches international academic and clinical standards. In this manner, the university looks upon widening its portfolio within nursing to position future nurses with the knowledge, means, and specialized competencies needed to meet the region's ever-growing and increasingly complex health care needs.

The introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be a milestone in the academic offerings at MBRU. The undergraduate programme is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in nursing science, clinical practice, and patient-centred care; it also aims at developing critical thinking, ethical practice, and lifelong learning. This is the foundational course for those who have chosen the nursing profession and provides the launching pad for more advanced professional development and specialisation.

Building on the undergraduate program, HBMCoNM now offers a structured progression into postgraduate education that will enable nurses to pursue advanced clinical expertise across multiple levels of qualification. Students can choose from a Master’s degree, Postgraduate Diploma, or Postgraduate Certificate in four high-demand specialisations: Cardiovascular Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Care Nursing, and Paediatric Nursing.

These programs are designed to meet critical workforce needs and support the development of highly skilled nursing professionals who can deliver specialized care within complex clinical environments. Together, the undergraduate and postgraduate pathways create a comprehensive academic framework that supports career advancement, leadership development, and excellence in nursing practice.

In addition to nursing, MBRU continues to be one of the leading institutions for shaping the bigger healthcare education landscape in the United Arab Emirates. The College of Medicine maintains an extensive set of advanced academic programs, which include a six-year undergraduate Doctor of Medicine and a four-year Graduate Entry Doctor of Medicine pathway. Furthermore, students have the option to pursue postgraduate research degrees represented by a Master of Science and PhD in Biomedical Sciences, together with professional qualifications in health education through the Master’s and Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education.

Supplementing these offerings, the Hamdan Bin Mohammed College of Dental Medicine offers specialized postgraduate programs in such areas as Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontology, Pediatric Dentistry, and Orthodontics. Collectively, these programs emphasize MBRU's role as a comprehensive academic institution committed to the development of a highly qualified, multi-disciplinary healthcare workforce that supports Dubai's aspiration to be a global hub for medical education, research, and clinical excellence.
