George Mason University Korea has signed a memorandum of understanding with two Korean defense organizations to strengthen education, research, and professional training in defense ICT and AI-enabled systems. The agreement was made with the Association of the Republic of Korea Army and the Defense Information and Communication Association at Seoul’s War Memorial.
The collaboration will operate through the C5I Korea Center, a local extension of George Mason University’s C5I Center, to serve as a hub for research, industry-academic partnerships, and student learning. Initiatives include joint projects on Korea-specific command, control, communications, computing, cyber, and intelligence (C5I) systems, planning exhibitions and seminars at the 2026 Korea Army International Defense Industry Exhibition, and identifying future defense technology needs.

Students will gain hands-on experience through training programs, workshops, and forums that integrate data science, AI, and analytics with defense operations. George Mason University Korea President Joshua Park said the partnership will equip students with the skills to thrive in modern command, intelligence, and communications roles while fostering innovation in digital and AI-driven missions.
Aligned with Korea’s goal to become a global AI leader by 2026, the initiative emphasizes practical skills, career readiness, and professional development, preparing the next generation of defense technology specialists.
