Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated the first Safety Engineering Center (GSEC) of Google in the Asia-Pacific region on Thursday. It is a turning point for India as well as Telangana in cybersecurity and digital safety. It is just the fifth of these centers worldwide.
Addressing the gathering, the CM was beaming with pride at Hyderabad's selection for this iconic facility and noted how digital India has become. "Our lives, government services, and economy have gone digital. With that, concerns regarding privacy and cyber security have grown", he said.
CM Revanth welcomed Google's move to utilize the new center as a cybersecurity hub to develop sophisticated safety measures and drive skills development. He pointed out that the move will not only increase employment but also enhance India's cyber defense capabilities.
"I welcome Google's motto Don't be evil. As Google does, my government also thinks that one should do only good. The dividend may take time, but through a long-term vision, we can create a safer digital future", he further stated.
Emphasizing Telangana's international potential, CM Revanth stated, "If foreign companies want a state to invest in with the best business environment, the answer is Telangana. Google it, and the first link will pop up as Hyderabad. We call this Telangana Rising".
He unveiled the state's ambitious plan of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and enabling 1 crore women to turn into crorepatis (millionaires). To facilitate this, the government has set aside 2.5 acres beside the Google office space for self-help group women-led stalls. He reasserted his intention to raise farmers, youth, and students through opportunity and innovation.
Revanth Reddy emphasized fresh projects such as the Young India Skills University, initiated by Anand Mahindra, to meet the skill shortages for more than 1.10 lakh engineering graduates who are passing out from the state annually. "We are coming out with Young India Integrated Residential Schools to provide quality education", he announced.
Highlighting inclusivity, the CM also said the government has recently hired transgender people for Hyderabad traffic management and GHMC services, a group often overlooked by former governments.
The CM remembered the long-standing bond between Google and Hyderabad, which began in 2007. When Google started its first office here when there was a former Congress government. Now, almost 7,000 Googlers reside in Hyderabad.
"We collaborate with Google in education, safety, mapping, traffic, startups, health, and many others. Google is a cutting-edge company and we are a cutting-edge government", he added.
Finally, CM Revanth extended an invitation to Google to be the brand ambassador of 'Telangana Rising' and said, "Women, youth, farmers, poor, middle class, seniors, and children all are partners in my government's vision for a better life. Let us shape global standards together". Complimenting Google again, he added, "We believe you will make us proud with your work at this new Safety Engineering Center in Hyderabad".
