Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, in collaboration with Jaro Education, has initiated applications for its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Programme meant for mid and senior-level technology professionals wanting to shift their careers to strategic leadership roles. The programme, with a mix of technical as well as business knowledge, seeks to make participants industry-ready with the capabilities to spearhead technology-enabled initiatives at the enterprise level. Admissions are now ongoing, with the first cohort set to start on November 15, 2025.
The CTO Programme will use a blended model, incorporating online studies with campus-based modules at IIT Bombay. The curriculum has been designed to address key areas like innovation management, strategic foresight, integration of emerging technologies, and strategic technology initiative alignment with business strategy. Courses are to be delivered by IIT Bombay faculty as well as industry practitioners, providing participants with exposure to both academic and practical perspectives.
Eligibility for the programme is focused on technology professionals with senior-level positions, such as Vice President – Engineering/Technology, Technical Director, Chief Architect, or similar. The applicants must have eight to twenty years of working experience and manage a minimum technology budget of ₹10 crore. The programme welcomes senior managers from SMEs and large businesses looking to transition into CXO-level roles. The admissions will be based on academic credentials, workplace experience, and performance in a personal interview, and shortlisted candidate profiles by programme coordinators.

IIT Bombay emphasized that the CTO Programme helps to meet the increasing demand for technology leaders capable of transcending IT infrastructure management to manage organisational initiatives such as cybersecurity, data-driven decision-making, and digital transformation. In the modern digital-first economy, CTOs are being asked to play a leading role in enterprise-wide strategy development and innovation more and more.
By fusing rigorous academic modules with real industry expertise, the programme seeks to equip technology leaders to meet the complex challenges of enterprise management in the modern enterprise, thereby empower them to make informed strategic choices that drive growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
