Keimyung University is stepping up its efforts to bridge the gap between academia and industry with a fresh, people-first approach to career development. The university recently hosted a two-day Work-Life Balance Career Camp in Gyeongju, designed to support young researchers in building sustainable careers while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Held under the RISE project (Regional Innovation-led University Support System), the program brought together 30 participants, including current and former graduate students under 39. What made the camp stand out was its strong connection to industry. Major companies such as MegaGen Implant and Ajin Industrial joined the initiative, offering job mentoring, industry insights, and direct networking opportunities. Participants engaged in one-on-one sessions, company briefings, and collaborative discussions that provided a real-world look at industry-academia collaboration.

Beyond networking, the event marked a deeper commitment. Keimyung University signed formal agreements with participating companies to expand internship programs, field training, and customized extracurricular activities. The goal is to create a steady pipeline of skilled talent that meets regional industry demands while encouraging young professionals to build their futures locally.

University leaders emphasized that this initiative reflects a shift in how higher education approaches employability moving beyond traditional placement support to a more holistic model that integrates career growth, quality of life, and regional development. As the university continues to expand this model, it aims to create a sustainable ecosystem where local talent, innovation, and industry growth reinforce each other.
