Music Training Program for Teachers Begins in Kohima

    A three-day music education training program for school teachers began in Kohima on February 9, 2026. The program is organized under Samagra Shiksha in partnership with Yamaha Music India and is being held at Morung Hall, Directorate of School Education.

    The initiative marks the first education collaboration between the School Education Department and a Japanese organization. Director of School Education, Razouseyi Vese, said the partnership builds on the long-standing relationship between India and Japan and opens new pathways through music education. He encouraged teachers to use this opportunity to guide students toward creative skills and career options beyond traditional government jobs.

    Vese highlighted that music education can help students build confidence, creativity, and employable skills, creating wider opportunities in the future. He assured full departmental support to strengthen music learning in schools.

    Representing Yamaha Music India, Sales Unit Head Ryoji Maruyama said the company aims to improve well-being through music and provide quality music education across India. He noted that music inspires, connects people, and plays a key role in shaping young minds.

    Risaka Tokoro from Yamaha Corporation shared details of the global music education program, launched in 2015 and active in several countries. She expressed hope that the initiative would strengthen music education in Nagaland.

    The inaugural session was chaired by Dr. Kevizakie Rio, Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha.
