Oman Minister of Higher Education Seeks Academic Ties with Italian Universities

    • Oman's Higher Education Minister Prof. Rahma al Mahrooqi visited Link Campus University and University of Naples Federico II to boost Oman-Italy academic ties.

    During her official visit to the Republic of Italy, H E Prof Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, paid a visit to two top educational institutions to enhance educational and scientific cooperation between Oman and Italy.

    Her Excellency and the visiting delegation were received at the historic campus headquarters of Link Campus University in Rome by the General Director, Dr. Aldo Marquez. The visit consisted of an extensive tour of the university's milestone structures, such as the Romanioli structure, the ancient library, lecture rooms, laboratories, and the large celebration hall. It ended with a casual meeting at the artistic café of the university, promoting free-flowing discussions and finding opportunities for mutual academic collaboration.

    Pursuing her tour, Her Excellency received the officials of the University of Naples Federico II, an oldest and most reputable university in Europe. She was welcomed by Professor Maria Francesca Frida, Commissioner for Student Affairs with Disabilities and Educational Challenges (DSA) and Director of the Sinapsi Center for Inclusive Education.

    Agenda items discussed included Italy's specializations in inclusive education and pedagogical training, with both parties emphasizing the need to empower disabled students. The gathering also touched on the possible collaboration in building centers of academic support in Oman to provide greater accessibility and inclusive learning environments for all students.

    These visits are part of Oman's overall strategy to establish international academic collaboration and foster the exchange of ideas, experience, and innovation in higher education.
