Rigaku Corporation, a leading global provider of X-ray analytical systems and a group company of Rigaku Holdings Corporation, has officially opened the Rigaku Solutions Center Osaka (RSC-Osaka) at its Osaka Plant. The new facility is designed to significantly strengthen the company’s global service capabilities by centralizing and expanding hands-on training for field service engineers specializing in semiconductor metrology systems.
As semiconductor manufacturing technology advances toward smaller geometries, higher layer counts, and complex 3D structures, the demand for ultra-precise, non-destructive metrology solutions continues to rise. Rigaku’s X-ray analytical technologies play a critical role in meeting these stringent requirements. With growing shipments of its semiconductor metrology systems worldwide, Rigaku recognized the increasing need for highly skilled service engineers capable of delivering rapid and reliable support.
The newly established RSC-Osaka addresses this demand directly. Located within the Osaka Plant, the center features a state-of-the-art cleanroom equipped with multiple semiconductor metrology systems. This setup allows service engineers to receive intensive, practical training in equipment disassembly and assembly, system calibration, performance verification, and advanced troubleshooting all under conditions that closely simulate real customer environments.
A key highlight of the facility is the ability to conduct hands-on training using systems such as the TXRF-V310, enabling trainees to develop deep technical expertise while minimizing disruption to customer operations.

“Our customers rely on Rigaku systems in some of the world's most demanding semiconductor manufacturing environments”, said Markus Kuhn, Executive Officer and General Manager of the Semiconductor Metrology Division at Rigaku. “By bringing multiple training systems together at RSC-Osaka, we can provide more efficient and flexible training tailored to different skill levels and technical needs.
The facility provides practical, hands-on learning opportunities for service engineers and distribution partners from around the world, helping strengthen technical expertise and standardize service practices across our global network. Its location within the Osaka Plant also enables us to train more engineers and further enhance the high-quality support we provide to customers worldwide".
The opening of RSC-Osaka represents a strategic investment in Rigaku’s global service infrastructure. By enhancing training capacity and quality, the company aims to reduce equipment downtime for customers, improve response times, and ensure consistent service excellence across regions.
This move comes at a pivotal time as the semiconductor industry faces rapid technological evolution and increasing pressure for operational reliability. Rigaku’s enhanced training capabilities will help ensure that its growing installed base of metrology systems receives best-in-class support, ultimately contributing to higher productivity and yield in semiconductor fabs worldwide.
Looking ahead, Rigaku plans to expand the range of systems covered in its training programs at RSC-Osaka and increase the frequency and accessibility of training sessions for both its internal service teams and global distribution partners.
The establishment of the Rigaku Solutions Center Osaka reinforces the company’s commitment to being a true solutions partner not only through advanced analytical instrumentation but also through world-class service and technical support that empowers the semiconductor industry’s continued innovation.
