- Ruanyun starts AI-based Chinese learning pilot with Columbia University
- Focus on skills, language learning, and institutional education support
- Expansion aligns with global growth and education services strategy
Ruanyun Edai Technology Inc. has launched a pilot project with the Center on Chinese Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, marking a key step in its push into institutional education services. The initiative focuses on improving language skills using AI-driven tools.
The pilot will support an AI-assisted Chinese language and culture program powered by Ruanyun’s HanLink platform. The company has provided a grant to help implement the program, which aims to enhance student learning through better pronunciation, writing analysis, and interactive practice.
HanLink is designed to support both students and educators by combining technology with classroom learning. It helps improve language proficiency, encourages self-learning, and supports teachers with assessment tools. The project will also test how well AI tools can integrate into academic environments in the U.S.
This move builds on Ruanyun’s earlier success in Saudi Arabia, where it ran a pilot program with 500 students across grades 1 to 12. The company tracked key learning outcomes such as homework accuracy, speaking skills, and student engagement. It also partnered with the Confucius Institute at Prince Sultan University to expand its reach.

Ruanyun is now shifting from a pure technology provider to a broader education solutions partner. It aims to support institutions not just with tools, but also with implementation, curriculum integration, and student engagement strategies.
The company recently set up a regional headquarters in Saudi Arabia as part of its global expansion. It plans to generate around 60% of its revenue from international markets by 2027 and is preparing for a brand transition to Formind Group.
Maggie Fu, CEO said, the Columbia pilot will help the company understand how its platform performs in U.S. classrooms and open new opportunities for global education partnerships.
