Governor Wes Moore made an announcement of expansion of an academic and cultural exchange partnership between Salisbury University and the Japan Study Abroad Foundation.
The latest announcement is building on their existing partnership, and Salisbury officials anticipate that this increase will enhance and further SU's study abroad programs. University President Dr. Carolyn Ringer Lepre commented that this new partnership raises the study abroad program.
“This is an organization that will connect Salisbury University with more than 50 different universities in Japan. We’ll be able to offer our educational experience to all of them. We’re hopeful this will create a pipeline of students”.
The partnership will bring 10 visiting students to SU during its first couple of years. The annual contribution will be $200,000 in tuition, fees, and board. The economic benefit is estimated at $4 million, and it will increase.
Assistant Provost of International Education Brian Stiegler says this expands campus presence worldwide. "The culture and identity that brings global learning to the Maryland students that we have here. We can ensure all students have access to global learning. President Lepre said that with this new agreement, JSAF students now have the chance to pursue higher education in America. "The best educational experiences are those where people are exposed to different viewpoints and backgrounds. It's about bringing the global world to our campus".
