The partnership will support two Southeast Asian nationals each year for advanced doctoral studies at KU’s Faculty of Economics. The three-year program will begin in Academic Year 2026-2027 and continue until 2028-2029. Both institutions will jointly fund the scholars throughout their studies.

The initiative places strong emphasis on education, job readiness, and leadership development. By investing in doctoral training, SEARCA and KU aim to prepare experts who can guide evidence-based policymaking and drive sustainable agricultural growth in their home countries.
Although SEARCA and KU have collaborated for many years through regional university networks, this marks their first joint scholarship program. The move signals a deeper commitment to developing future-ready professionals in agriculture and resource economics.
