- CII Young Indians (Yi) plans to expand its Singapore–India student exchange to 300 youths per year.
- The programme aims to build future leaders with deeper cultural and economic understanding of India.
- The initiative strengthens long-term collaboration through education, immersion and youth partnerships.
The Confederation of Indian Industry Young Indians chapter in Singapore (CII Yi) plans to scale its student exchange programme to 300 youths annually to prepare a new generation of leaders with a strong understanding of India’s culture, economy and society. Chairman Mohamed Irshad shared the expansion plan after hosting the first Yi–India Singapore Youth Summit in Singapore.
Irshad said that building deeper knowledge of India is essential to strengthening the century-old ties between the two countries. Singapore is already India’s largest foreign direct investment hub, making youth engagement even more relevant for future economic cooperation.
So far, 40 Singapore based students have taken part in exchange and immersion programmes in India, including the 'India Talent Read Programme', supported by Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, Enterprise Singapore, and the National Youth Council. Similarly, 40 students from Indian universities have visited Singapore this year through the same initiative.
For the long term, CII Yi aims to send and host 300 students each year to help them understand India beyond major metros, including tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The idea is to build a network of young professionals in Singapore who are future-ready for India-related opportunities. Irshad added that the Indian community in Singapore, especially experts in finance, will also support the platform.
