SNU & Jeonbuk Launch Joint Program to Build Job-Ready Skills

    • Universities partner to deliver a joint global education and skills-focused program
    • China-based immersion provides hands-on business exposure and job-oriented learning
    • Initiative aims to enhance global employability and inter-university collaboration

Seoul National University (SNU) and Jeonbuk National University have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly run an international education initiative designed to strengthen global skills and career readiness among students.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will co-operate the Joint Seoul National University in the World Program (SWP), marking SNU’s first such partnership with another national flagship university. The collaboration will begin with a Joint SWP in China starting from the winter semester of 2025.

The signing ceremony took place at SNU’s Office of International Affairs, with senior representatives from both universities in attendance. The agreement was signed on behalf of the presidents of both institutions, laying the groundwork for long-term cooperation on future joint global education programs.

The China-focused SWP has already attracted strong student interest. SNU received 60 applications for 20 seats, while Jeonbuk National University saw 102 applicants competing for the same number of slots, highlighting growing demand for international, skills-based learning opportunities.

Selected students will start the program with a one-week preparatory session at SNU, where they will receive academic and cultural orientation. They will then travel to Shanghai and Shenzhen for a two-week immersive experience that includes company visits, industry-led lectures, and hands-on projects focused on understanding global business practices and workplace skills.

The universities said the program is designed to help students gain real-world exposure, improve cross-cultural competence, and develop job-relevant insights in fast-growing international markets.

SNU plans to expand this model by partnering with more national universities, aiming to share educational resources and strengthen global learning pathways. Both institutions view the initiative as a step toward preparing students for global careers through practical, experience-driven education.
