University Student Launches Financial Education Startup for Youth

    • University of Southampton student Eromeo Quintus, 21, founded Quintus & Co. to teach financial literacy to students and young professionals, covering budgeting, investing, and financial independence.
    • He conducts free workshops at universities like Southampton and Kingston, helping attendees access practical financial knowledge often missing from formal education.
    • Beyond workshops, Eromeo also runs Branded Barber, a white-label grooming business, combining entrepreneurship with his mission to empower young people to manage money confidently.

A young University of Southampton student is taking financial literacy into his own hands, creating a platform to help students and young professionals navigate money matters with confidence. Eromeo Quintus, 21, a chemical engineering student, founded Quintus & Co. to address growing concerns about student loans, investments, and financial independence among young people.

Eromeo has been investing since he was 18 and recognized that many students lack the opportunity to learn practical financial education. “At schools and universities, financial literacy is rarely taught or even discussed. With the cost of living rising, understanding investing is more important than ever, because money sitting in a savings account often loses value over time”, he said.

Through free workshops at the University of Southampton and Kingston University, Eromeo is giving students hands-on guidance in budgeting, investing, and financial decision-making. He said the response has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees often expressing surprise at the accessibility of the information. “After workshops, students tell me, ‘I didn’t even know things like this existed’”, he explained.

Eromeo’s ambitions extend beyond workshops. He hopes to encourage the government and educational institutions to create dedicated spaces for students to learn about mortgages, investing, and other essential financial skills. “Reliable information is hard to find, and scams are everywhere online. Not all students know how to start their own research, so I want them to learn about investing from a younger age”, he added.

In addition to Quintus & Co., Eromeo has launched Branded Barber, a white-label grooming company supplying products to barbershops. His drive for entrepreneurship and financial independence is deeply personal. Having moved from Germany to South London at the age of 11, he grew up watching his father, who emigrated from Sri Lanka to Germany, rebuild their lives through hard work and determination.

By combining practical financial literacy education with entrepreneurship, Eromeo Quintus is inspiring students to take control of their financial futures, proving that with knowledge and guidance, young people can confidently navigate money matters and build independence early in life.
