UWA Opens Doors for Indian Students with New Campuses

    • First dual-campus international expansion in India
    • Programmes aligned with high-growth industries
    • Strong focus on industry integration and global exposure

University of Western Australia (UWA) has announced the opening of applications for its upcoming campuses in Mumbai and Chennai, marking its first-ever international expansion and a significant step into India’s higher education landscape. With this move, UWA becomes the only foreign university to establish two campuses in India simultaneously, creating a new benchmark for global education presence in the country.

The campuses will offer a curated range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes aligned with high-growth sectors. These include Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Business Management, Global Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Economics, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Information Technology. By positioning campuses in two of India’s leading academic and industrial hubs, UWA aims to build one of the most comprehensive international education ecosystems in the region.

Vice-Chancellor Amit Chakma described the launch as a defining milestone, emphasizing that the initiative will allow Indian students to access a globally ranked education within the country. He highlighted UWA’s focus on combining academic excellence with strong industry integration, global faculty, and collaborative learning pathways to prepare students for real-world impact.

A key differentiator for UWA’s India campuses is its emphasis on applied learning and industry engagement from the outset. The university is developing partnerships with industry leaders and global academic institutions to provide hands-on experience, enhance employability, and build long-term career pathways. Students will also benefit from international exposure through exchange opportunities, visiting faculty, and access to UWA’s global alumni network.
