In a bid to open international job opportunities for Nagaland youth, NITI Dimapur Centre, in association with the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), conducted an awareness workshop on 'Preparing for Working in Japan' free of cost under Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Japanese Endowed Courses (JEC) lecture series.
The workshop, conducted at Marwari Patti Center, Dimapur, attracted more than 100 students, academicians and administrators, who probed career possibilities in Japan a nation with cultural values, eating habits and lifestyle similar to the Naga society.
The programme was directed by Prof Tomio Isogai, a renowned Japanese mentor and expert, who identified Japan's increasing need for talented, young professional workers. He pointed out that Nagaland youth, with their flexibility, warmth and desire to develop, are well placed to thrive in Japan's working environment.
Prof Isogai was accompanied by Mohita Modgill, AOTS JEC Coordinator, and Pursenla Jamir, Manager at AOTS India Office. The members provided advice on career development in Japan through Japanese language acquisition, accommodation into Japanese work culture and taking part in government-sponsored skill programmes.
Earlier, Rishav Sethi, CEO of NITI Nagaland, delivered the welcome address, emphasising the importance of global exposure and NITI’s mission to empower students through skill-based education that transcends borders.

Ajay Sethi, Managing Director of NITI Nagaland, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Japanese dignitaries and participants, and reaffirmed NITI’s commitment to fostering international career opportunities for youth from Northeast India. The event was anchored by Ujala Dey.
Representatives and leaders of collaborating institutions, such as Norman Putsure College and Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, were present at the event and indicated interest in future partnership.
Among speakers at the gathering were Regional Employment Exchange Officer Imli Mongzar, Sani Putsure, MD of Norman Putsure College, Bithungo Kikon and Kaini Khekho Kikon, Admin and Principal of Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, and President of Bethesda Youth Welfare Center Zubenthung Humtsoe. Everyone was felicitated by Ajay Sethi on the occasion.
The organisers thanked all the schools, colleges, NGOs and individuals who had come to the programme at short notice, and appreciated the efforts of Team NITI in conducting the event professionally.
