HELP University Joins Hands with SW Asia Academy to Launch Governance Hub

    • Swiss International University (SIU) earns 5-year accreditation from ARIA, aligning with CEENQA, EURASHE, and UNESCO-NEQMAP standards.
    • ARIA recognition boosts global credibility of SIU’s programs, enhancing degree value across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
    • SIU group spans institutions in Switzerland, UAE, and beyond, with 3,800+ students from 120 countries enrolled in multilingual academic programs.

HELP University, Malaysia's premier institution of higher education, has entered into a historic alliance with SW Asia Academy, which has close ties to Shine Wing (SW) Hong Kong, a giant of accounting and consulting in Asia with an extensive network. Through its strategic alliance, the two institutions aim to revolutionize corporate governance studies and professional training in the region.

The collaboration puts corporate governance at its center, with both institutions collectively providing education and training programs for students, business practitioners, and policymakers in a variety of fields such as business, economics, law, and public policy. The establishment of a Centre for Asian Corporate Governance, which will lead regional research, education, and policy engagement in this important field, is in the pipeline.

The partnership combines HELP University's intellectual prowess with SW Group's strong presence in China and Hong Kong. Renowned for excellence in finance and accounting services, the SW Group contributes extensive market knowledge, comprehensive client networks, and creative service methodologies to the collaboration.

Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, HELP University's Chancellor and co-founder, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership: "This partnership allows both partners to synergise their respective strengths in a bid to provide forward-looking academic and professional programmes".

He also pointed out that HELP University students will receive international exposure and priceless access to career openings in China and Hong Kong, greatly enhancing their global opportunities.

Roy Lo and Tammy Tam, founders of SW Asia Academy, were keen on welcoming the partnership, saying it "opens new avenues for students and staff to engage in meaningful international engagement," emphasizing their commitment "to providing borderless education that is relevant, future-focused, and inclusive".

Lo further added "This collaboration with HELP University is a leap of quantum proportions in our endeavors to provide world-class, borderless education. With the integration of SW Asia Academy's business links within the SW network and HELP's robust ASEAN footprint, new transformative pathways will be opened for Hong Kong students to attain global experience while accessing superior academic programs".

Tam further stated that "education should break conventional boundaries, highlighting that the collaboration enables our students to acquire real global competence - marrying Hong Kong's professional rigour with Malaysia's multicultural learning environment".

The partnership initiates joint initiatives aimed at improving student learning, advancing academic development, and fostering institutional building. Key elements include:

Student Mobility Programmes: English language camps in Malaysia provide opportunities for SW Asia Academy students to enhance their language proficiency while being immersed in a foreign culture.

Academic Progression Pathways: Formal routes facilitate lifelong learning, with diploma graduates from SW Asia Academy having access to bachelor's degrees at HELP University through a two-plus-two programme. Undergraduates enjoy flexibility to progress to postgraduate studies through three-plus-two, four-plus-one, or four-plus-two models.

Inclusive Education Support: Collaboration promotes inclusive education by means of Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualifications (APEL.Q), allowing adults and working professionals to transfer practical experience to credited academic qualifications.

The signing ceremony of the MoU witnessed a panel discussion on "Global Industry-Academia Collaborations in Corporate Governance", which drew a large crowd. Datuk Shireen Ann Zaharah Muhiudeen, ex-Chairperson of the Securities Commission Malaysia and renowned corporate governance expert, graced the event with her presence.

HELP University's innovation was acknowledged in 2019 when it received Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) status from the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as a top digital tech-oriented institution that supplies high-calibre graduates for the industry.

This new collaboration leverages HELP University's track record of providing influential education, consultancy, and AI-based management services to meet the changing demands of industries in Asia.
