MoHESR and ADEK Team Up to Enhance Student Experience and Regulate University Operations

    • MoHESR and ADEK partner to streamline student transitions from school to university through unified registration and data sharing.
    • Initiative aims to align licensing, accreditation, and academic counseling to enhance education quality and labour market readiness.
    • Partnership supports UAE’s vision of a sustainable, knowledge-based economy by enabling data-driven planning and student empowerment.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has joined forces with Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) to ensure smooth transition of students from secondary to tertiary education. The partnership will integrate licensing, accreditation, and exchange of information, which will increase efficiency and the quality of education in Abu Dhabi.

The action is part of MoHESR's initiative to harmonize regulatory structures with local government education authorities and achieve policy consistency, providing students with a smooth experience from graduation to workforce entry.

His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, added "Our partnership with ADEK is a step toward realising our vision for creating an education system that assists national objectives.". Together, we will enable learners to pursue a coherent academic pathway grounded in reliable data, enabling them to align learning with individual goals and changing labour market requirements. We will also rationalise administrative and organisational procedures for Abu Dhabi's higher education institutions (HEIs). Moreover, we will establish a strong data exchange infrastructure to facilitate strategic planning and service design.

He also stated "At MoHESR, we continue to be committed to enhancing partnership with our partners within the education ecosystem in creating an innovative, sustainable higher education sector in the UAE that functions in the best interest of students".

Her Excellency Sara Musallam, ADEK Chairperson, stated "Our collaboration with MoHESR embodies a realistic model of cooperation to raise the quality of education in the UAE. It seeks to facilitate smooth transition for students between high school, university, and the labor market, making them more prepared for the changes that lie ahead. We create synergies that equip students to succeed, drive innovation, and develop multi-potential opportunities".

MoHESR and ADEK will register Grade 11 and 12 students on the Unified Registration and Admissions System. Besides offering early academic counseling to the students, the two organizations will offer them and their parents comprehensive information regarding admission requirements, university programs, and career paths. They will also conduct seasonal awareness campaigns and training sessions for academic advisors and monitor service efficiency continuously.

Under this partnership, the applications of HEIs wishing to open their businesses in Abu Dhabi will be evaluated, and the processes of licensing and accreditation will be harmonized with the regulations of both parties. This will strike a balance between streamlined processes and quality assurance through information sharing, curriculum evaluation, and continuous updates on institutional data.

The two institutions will share and merge institutional, student, and graduate data to maintain correct, current information in support of planning, programme evaluation, and service enhancement. They will establish a transparent data exchange process, agree on update schedules, and compile mutual reports on important indicators, including admission, enrolment, retention, and graduation rates. This will facilitate informed decision-making while guaranteeing total adherence to data governance, security policies, as well as applicable federal and local laws.

Collaboration with ADEK is an element of MoHESR's plan to put in place its newly designed student journey model rooted in simplification, integration, and openness. The joint effort is focused on providing a holistic learning experience that nurtures national talent to construct a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
