- TCS opens its first AI-powered innovation centre in Singapore, aiming to enhance productivity and operational resilience across industries.

Indian consultancy behemoth Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) plans to recruit 50 new local university graduates from various disciplines to aid in its artificial intelligence (AI)-focused innovation centre. It has already offered 25 jobs, and plans to make another 25 offers to fresh graduates by December this year. It currently has a workforce of 6,600 in Singapore, it said.
The innovation center, launched formally on Thursday (Jul 3), is housed in TCS' Asia-Pacific office at Changi Business Park. The new center forms part of the company's global innovation network, TCS Pace, with centers in cities worldwide, such as London and New York. TCS did not disclose how much money was spent opening its new innovation hub.
“The new centre in Singapore will explore the application of AI and automation across critical industries to enhance productivity, ensure operational resilience, and accelerate innovation”, it said in a press statement.The opening of the centre coincides with TCS’ 40th anniversary in Singapore; it is the company’s first AI-powered innovation hub in the world.

TCS replied to media inquiries that the centre plans to collaborate with 50 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), 10 local startups, and all of the local autonomous universities within the next 12 months. Addressing the inauguration, Punit Agarwal, TCS Singapore country head, stated that the center would concentrate on enabling SMEs to embrace digital technologies. It was also announced that this was the initial phase of establishing the research and innovation center. The subsequent phase, an increase in the existing facilities, will be launched sometime next year.
"The space will facilitate TCS customers and partners to collaborate closely with experts to co-create, prototype, and scale up AI-driven solutions solving business problems of the real world with a focus on innovation in public services as well as industry domains", said TCS.
The guest of honour at the event, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, stated that the launch of the innovation centre in Singapore is in tandem with the vision of National AI Strategy 2.0, where the government is expecting to anchor AI capability in the Republic.I welcome TCS' customer-first approach towards digital adoption and transformation, as well as its focus on supporting partners in innovating and delivering solutions to instill confidence and trust among their customers.
