In the wake of the serious damage caused to some of the buildings at Yezin Agricultural University by the Mandalay earthquake that hit on March 28, the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Project of Thailand has provided invaluable assistance to help the university get back to its normal activities.

The project donated computers, projectors, printers, air conditioners, photocopiers, and other related accessories to facilitate the rehabilitation and continued development of the university's learning processes during the repair and renovation process. The formal handing over of the teaching and office machines occurred on September 25 at Centennial Hall of Yezin Agricultural University.

It was graced with the presence of an eminent delegation, comprising Dr. Tin Htut, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation; H.E. Mr. Mongkol Visitstump, Ambassador of Thailand to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; embassy representatives; and senior university representatives, including the Rector, professors, and lecturers.

At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut highlighted the crucial role of education as a foundation for national development. He expressed warm appreciation to the Royal Thai Embassy and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for their opportune aid, underlining how this support would be of great importance in rebuilding and strengthening the educational activities of the university after the earthquake's destruction.

As appreciation of the noble gift, the Rector handed over a commemoration certificate and a special gift to commemorate Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, extending sincere gratitude for the assistance given to the university.

The donation represents not only the lasting bonds of friendship between Myanmar and Thailand but also an assurance to support the development of education and natural disaster resilience. The donation should greatly strengthen the ability of the university to continue providing quality education for its students as repairs and renovation are in progress.

It symbolizes the significance of global cooperation in the aid of calamity-stricken institutions so that learning and academic development are not interrupted by the calamities presented by natural disasters. The project is a symbol of the existing goodwill and partnership between the two countries as well as the emphasis on education as the cornerstone of sustainable development.
