In a move aimed at strengthening youth career development and providing meaningful workplace exposure, Geumcheon District in Seoul has announced the launch of its 2026 Summer Youth Part-Time Job Program, offering 100 young residents the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public institutions during the summer vacation period. The initiative reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth employment, career exploration, and practical learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom environment.
According to district officials, applications for the highly anticipated summer youth employment program will be accepted from June 3 through June 12. The program is designed to help participants better understand workplace expectations, develop professional skills, and gain valuable insight into the operations of local government and community service organizations. By working directly within public institutions, young people will have the chance to experience real-world responsibilities while building confidence and preparing for future careers.
Of the 100 available positions, 30 will be allocated through a priority selection process, while the remaining 70 spots will be filled through general recruitment. Participants selected for the program will be assigned to various roles across the district office and local community centers. Responsibilities may include administrative support, assisting with public services, helping with caregiving activities, supporting educational tutoring programs, and organizing books and materials in community libraries. These assignments are intended to expose participants to diverse workplace environments and help them discover career paths that align with their interests and strengths.

The youth work experience program is open to individuals born between 1996 and 2007 who are registered residents of Geumcheon District as of the official announcement date. To ensure that opportunities are distributed fairly among residents, individuals who have participated in the same program within the last two years are not eligible to apply. The district has also established a priority selection category to provide greater access to young people from underrepresented and vulnerable backgrounds. Eligible groups include recipients of basic livelihood assistance, members of lower-income households, multicultural families, families with multiple children, individuals with disabilities, North Korean defectors, and national veterans.
The employment period will run for approximately four weeks, from July 6 through July 31. During this time, participants will work five hours per day, five days a week, allowing them to gain meaningful experience while maintaining a manageable schedule during their summer break. The daily wage has been set at 60,605 won, which includes a lunch allowance. Participants who complete the full program are expected to earn approximately 1.44 million won, providing both financial support and valuable professional experience.
Applications for the Geumcheon District youth job program can be submitted through the district office’s official website. Following the application period, successful participants will be selected through an electronic lottery system, with final results scheduled to be announced on June 16. The transparent selection process is intended to ensure fairness and equal opportunity for all eligible applicants.
A district official emphasized that the program serves as more than just a temporary summer job. By participating in district operations and community services, young people can gain firsthand exposure to public administration while also experiencing the responsibilities and expectations of working life.
